Ms Celia Theodoreli-Riga is the Head of School of Surgery.
Deputy Head of School
Mr Dominic Nielsen is the Deputy Head of the London Postgraduate School of Surgery. Mr Nielsen is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at St George’s Hospital in London. His clinical interests are foot and ankle surgery and complex lower limb trauma. He is a keen advocate of surgical education and was previously the Training Programme Director for Higher Orthopaedics in South London.

Currently TPD for NE Thames Core Surgery, covering St Barts, Royal London, Homerton, Whipps Cross, Newham General, King George and Queens Hospitals.
My Speciality is General Surgery , Colorectal, Minimal Access and Abdominal Wall Reconstruction and Hernia swell as Endoscopy providing expertise and training in all aspects of these areas.
Aman aims to provide trainees the highest quality of training and supervision in both the elective and emergency scenarios. This is undoubtedly the best way to attract the highest quality trainees has closely been involved in the provision of training schemes within the Barking Havering and Redbridge University Trust(BHRUT). He has been the Trainer responsible for dedicated teaching on a weekly basis with novel techniques, including hands-on and multi-media supported training methods and simulation training. Over the years Aman has provided regional training days for HST, seminars and Faculty support to RCS England, The Surgical Skills Centre at Imperial College and ICENI Centre Colchester and is Programme Director for the Core Skills in Laparoscopic Surgery Course RCS England.
Aman has been dedicated as AES/CS to Core and Higher Surgical Trainees with full integration into the training process, use of ISCP and Surgical Tutor, and London Deanery Regional Representative and member of the Core Surgical Training Committee and been involved in curriculum mapping and development of modular training with Core and Higher Trainees. Development of the IST Project at BHRUT and its’ role out.
Over 2017-2020 Aman has supported the concept the RCS IST programme and developed a new way of managing training for the Improved Surgical Training posts, gaining support in London for the original 3 posts out of 40 Nationally, which has now doubled after Quality Assessment and Audit. This has enabled 6 training posts in all with successful outcome to run through training.
August 2019 Aman was appointed Training Programme Director for NE Thames Trainees, looking after 30 trainees in all in Core ST1/2 and ACF and engaging newer methods of evaluation in London, supporting the Role out of IST across the UK as a lead in IST, further supporting and implementing the programme and supporting other Trusts to follow suit in London. A regular provider of input to HEE STC and feedback to the RCS Professional Forum and has been awarded Membership Academy of Surgical Educators RCS.
