Due to the Covid Pandemic, the application timteline for ST4 Psychiatry training posts has been moved forward to Nov/Dec 2020 limiting time to make important career decsions. This being so we have developed the following resources and links to support you:
1. Career Planning
The SCAN Career Planning Model
This career planning model specifically designed for health professionals sets out a 4-stage structure for your career planning:
- Self Awareness supports you in considering what is important to you in your career
- Career Exploration lets you consider resources and strategy needed to inform the decisions you are making,
- Arriving at your decision allows you to weigh up the options
- Next Steps helps you plan the actions you need to take to submit a good application to specialty or other post foundation option.

Career Planning for Core Doctors E-Module (eLfH)
This e-learning resource is hosted by elfh (e-learning for healthcare). Divided into 4 short modules to represent each of the stages in the SCAN model this course will demonstrate how to apply the findings from the exercises to the decision making process. Each module is supported by a workbook which contains many of the exercises on our website and more. There is also further information in the course to support the range of options open to you including specialty, Gap year and non-medical options. GAP/F3 Options
