Further Notes and Information

Q2  Can you identify particular kinds of patients with whom you feel more anxious or worried?

Write them down and begin to notice when this arises in your day to day work. Can you find any common theme either with the patient or with the kind of anxiety that arises.

Again, it is entirely normal for practitioners to develop anxieties about particular kinds of patients. If these worries appear as obstacles to being clear about the patients’ needs then it will be worth articulating them with colleagues. These feelings are most likely to arise from your associations with a situation rather than from the facts of the situation. It may be worth considering whether this pertains for you.
